44th Annual Vail ‘King of the Mountain’ Open

“A Family Event for Young and Old Alike!”

The Annual Vail King of the Mountain Open is one of the top five iconic grassroots beach doubles Events in North America, drawing upwards of 700 teams of competitors from all over the Rocky Mountain Region and elsewhere.  Held over Father’s Day Weekend, the “King of the Mountain Open” has become a fantastic family volleyball outing with competitions for Juniors, Adults, Co-Ed, Masters/Seniors and, even, special Father/Son and Father/Daughter divisions to help celebrate Father’s Day.

Vail America Days & 4th of July Parade

A true summer celebration featuring exceptional entertainment including Vail’s celebrated 4th of July parade and fireworks, complemented by all that Vail summer has to offer on and off the mountain.

The parade will begin at Golden Peak at 10 AM on July 4 and will wind its way through the villages, ending in Lionshead. Vail’s parade is one of the most popular events during the Independence Day holiday. This year's parade theme is America's Great Outdoors!

Vail Summer Bluegrass Series

Vail bluegrass is set in the scenic Lionshead Village, nestled among world-class shopping, dining and lodging, alongside the magnificent Gore Creek in Vail, Colorado.

Vail bluegrass is excited to welcome the following headliners for the 2018 summer season:

  • July 4 – Horseshoes & Hand Grenades

Bravo! Vail - Academy of St. Martin in the Fields

Bravo! Vail is the only festival in North America to host four of the world’s finest orchestras in a single season. The 2017 season features residencies with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic and London's Academy of St Martin in the Fields. The orchestras will perform great staples of the classical canon and creatively curated programs of jazz and pops. In addition, world-renowned soloists and chamber musicians will showcase their talents in an eclectic chamber music series.

Vail Whitewater Race Series

The Vail Recreation District partners with Alpine Quest Sports to host the annual Vail Whitewater Race Series. The races will be divided between three categories, including kayak (under 9'6"), two-person raft and stand-up paddleboard (SUP) with different course challenges every week. The course challenge for each event will be determined the day prior based on river flows. Each week, the two-round format will consist of an individual time trial with results determining the seeding for the second round, head-to-head race.
