At Timbers Resorts, we love when our guests and Owners have a superb experience at our properties - no matter who they are. It makes what we do all worth it. We love hearing about their stay, what they did and who they met. We always ensure the staff receives feedback directly from the guest so they know how they did providing the experience. Here’s a letter from one of our very first guests at The Sebastian - Vail, the First Lady of the United States of America. Mrs. Obama graced us with her presence for a ski vacation with her two young daughters in tow.

Does your mouth crave a hint of tannin with elderberry? Whether you consider yourself a serious connoisseur of fine wines or you just love to kick back and enjoy a smooth glass of Pinot Noir, then you’ll want to experience Block 16’s series of Vintners’ Dinners, which began at The Sebastian in Vail this month. For the introductory event, we invited Bryan Page of Napa Valley’s Page Wine Cellars as the first guest winemaker. Block 16’s namesake wine is produced by Page Wine Cellars and was served with the second entrée of the evening.
Guests arrived between 6:30 and 7 pm for a reception with hors d’oeuvres and Champagne in the dining room. Maitre d’ Gary Obligacion invited all to take their seats for the three-course dinner paired with Page wines. In between each course, Bryan spoke about the pairings, sharing insights into their production, and described why they’d been selected for the evening. He also talked a bit about the passion and inspiration his family has for the wine business. Following the final course, Gary invited the culinary team to come out from the kitchen and take a bow alongside the waitstaff who together had offered not only incredible food and wine but also fantastic hospitality all evening. Dinner attendees gave the entire team a standing ovation.
If you would like to put your vintner hat on - just for an evening – we invite you to join us by calling Block 16 at 970.331.0015 for information and reservations.
**Also, be sure to save the date for a special Vintners’ Dinner on Wednesday 04/06 during The Taste of Vail.
Timbers Resorts swept the awards ceremony at the Fractional Life Conference in London on February 18, 2011, collecting four of seven awards at the internationally recognized event.
- Best Fractional Development EMEA : Castello di Casole
- Best Private Residence Club : Residences at the Sebastian
- Innovation and Excellence: Timbers Resorts
- Fractional Life Readers’ Choice Award : Castello di Casole
The first three awards above were judged by industry professionals and journalists, which truly is an honor. We are particularly pleased to have also won the Fractional Life Readers’ Choice Award as it’s as close to the fractional consumer as they come (Castello di Casole achieved 36% of the vote) and we received some incredible comments to accompany this distinction.

Mexican artist Manuel Felguerez was the guest of honor for the dedication of The Library at The Sebastian on Saturday, February 5. Mr. Felguerez, whose paintings and sculptures grace the intimate space, traveled from Mexico City for the occasion. In attendance were Owners at Residences at The Sebastian, hotel guests and friends. Upon your next visit to The Sebastian, we invite you to stop by this special setting and view Mr. Felguerez’s artwork displayed throughout the property. His towering Peregrine sculpture graces the porte-cochere while his paintings and other sculptures can be found throughout the hotel and even on the Block 16 wine label - The Sebastian’s signature vintage.
At Timbers Resorts, we’ve long looked at Vail to establish another ski property within our portfolio. When that opportunity arose last year, we were thrilled to get involved. Spending the spring, summer and fall in preparation remodeling the existing resort at 16 Vail Road, The Sebastian - A Timbers Resorts Hotel & Residence Club, debuted in time for ski season 2010 - 2011. The newest destination in the Timbers Resorts portfolio offers private residences, hotel suites, dining, a spa, ski valet service at the slopes and more.
