Food matters. You are what you eat not only because food is nutrition, but also because food is an integral part of our everyday lives. Food is economics, politics, entertainment, culture, fashion, passion, family...and nourishment. New York City's James Beard Foundation is at the center of America's culinary community, dedicated to exploring the way food enriches our lives.
Established in 1986, the James Beard Foundation offers a variety of programs including classes, conferences, and other educational experiences that help people learn about and engage with food. They offer scholarships to culinary students seeking financial support to pursue careers in the food and beverage industry. Chefs are invited to participate in events at the reputable James Beard House in New York City and at events abroad to allow people to experience America’s dynamic cuisine firsthand. They also administer the annual James Beard Foundation Awards at Lincoln Center, which recognize and honor excellence among chefs, cookbook authors, food journalists, restaurant designers, and others working in the food and beverage industry.
Set in the heart of Greenwich Village, the historic James Beard House once owned and inhabited by the celebrated cookbook author and television personality presents over 200 dinners a year with guest chefs from across the country. This spring, Timbers Resorts will be making a trip to New York City, presenting A Taste of Timbers Resorts with a trio of chefs, Sergio Howland and Flynt Payne from Vail's innovative new restaurant Block 16 at The Sebastian - Vail, and Ezra Duker from the Truffle Pig at One Steamboat Place. With combined experience at the French Laundry and other Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, they have created an internationally-influenced menu representing Timbers Resorts' destinations around the world. Inspired by the Caribbean, Mexico, Italy, Ireland, Colorado, California and Arizona, each course will be paired with wines associated with Timbers Resorts.
Including being listed among "The Top Five Best New Ski Resort Restaurants" by Food & Wine magazine in its January 2011 edition, both the Truffle Pig and Block 16 have received numerous accolades since opening their doors - in the summer of 2010 and this past January, respectively. Come experience the sensational flavors for yourself at this special dinner - 7 pm, Wednesday, April 20. Click here for a preview of the tantalizing dishes, more information or to reserve your seats.
